Voltage48 V

We are pleased to announce that our company is the first to offer aftermarket replacement parts for the Audi Electric Generator IGBT. This component is the primary reason these units fail, and we are excited to provide a reliable solution.

To ensure a successful repair and protect the longevity of the generator, please follow these critical precautions:

1. Battery Requirements
The 48V lithium battery must be charged to approximately 70% capacity (49.5V) before attempting to start the vehicle. Starting the car with low voltage can cause significant damage to the generator.

2. Antifreeze Filling Method
You must use the vacuum filling method for the antifreeze. Standard filling followed by computer-assisted air bleeding only clears the engine; it does not remove air from the generator’s water channel. Resulting poor heat dissipation will significantly shorten the life of the generator, especially when installing a new IGBT set. Failure to fill the antifreeze properly may necessitate the replacement of all components.

Common Faults and Diagnostics
The Audi starter-generator (often referred to as the "mild-hybrid disaster") frequently fails due to electrical boards and contacts breaking down. While moisture is often cited as the cause, the actual issue is typically high operating currents causing the power transistors to overheat and the power board to fail.

Drivers may see general dashboard warnings regarding the electrical mains, Start-Stop system, or brake power booster. Specific diagnostic error codes to look for include:

  - P065C00: Alternator mechanical characteristics - Intermittent operation
  - U046900: Starter generator control unit, invalid signal
  - P0CA700: Hybrid drive battery, discharge current too high

Please note that a failed alternator often completely drains the 48-volt battery, causing it to enter protection mode. In these cases, the car will be immobilized, and you must use ODIS or similarly capable scan tools to remove the protection even after installing a new alternator.
